In the federal Congress, the proposal by President Claudia Sheinbaum to regularize app driver partners under formal labor schemes with benefits continues to advance. Meanwhile, in the metropolitan area of Mexico City, a new car rental alternative aims to provide an option that avoids the labor exploitation of individuals.

The initiative arises from the alliance between Uber and Autofin Rent, and aims to provide drivers access to new cars at more affordable prices. Interested parties will be able to rent a vehicle for a fee starting at three thousand 100 pesos per week, including paperwork, plates, vehicle taxes, insurance, and maintenance.

In a context where many drivers working on mobility platforms lack their own car and are forced to rent them through third parties, this new scheme seeks to provide a solution to the high costs and abusive conditions they face. Some drivers have reported demands for exhausting work hours from private lessors, significantly reducing their earnings.

The system offered by Autofin Rent and Uber will allow drivers to access new vehicles with rental contracts that include all necessary paperwork and services, eliminating the uncertainty of additional payments. Additionally, the rental cost will be deducted directly from the earnings generated through the Uber application, simplifying the administrative process for driver partners.

One of the attractions of this new rental option is the possibility of generating additional income, such as a monthly incentive of up to one thousand 466 pesos depending on the driver's Uber Pro level. Additionally, the program allows for vehicle renewal after 10 months or 50,000 kilometers of use, ensuring that partners have cars in optimal condition.

According to Juan Antonio Hernández Páramo, president of Autofin Rent in Mexico, this initiative represents one of the most economical and convenient options available in the market for those generating income through the Uber application. According to data from a Quadrant Strategies survey, 90% of driver partners believe that Uber is a simpler and more accessible alternative for earning income.

With this collaboration, Uber and Autofin Rent aim to facilitate access to new cars and offer a more transparent and equitable alternative for drivers, allowing them to manage their business with greater autonomy and fewer financial worries. As noted by Juan Pablo Eiroa, general director of Uber in Mexico, such alliances are designed to support driver partners on their path to success.
